Vegas Summary Part II

Monday, Sept 1
So, Eric and I didn't go to bed until around 4 in the morning. I was awake by 6:30. Didn't want to wake him up, but it happened. I told him to go back to sleep and I'd amuse myself for a while. And I did! I found a Pokemon marathon on Cartoon Network! So I watched Pokemon while playing Pokemon on my DS and all was right with the world, hehe. Eventually he got up around 9:30. We talked a bit. He said he didn't mind my snoring because it let him know when I was asleep and awake. And he said he was concerned about my bathroom usage as I seemed to go a lot. Dude, I had a bazillion glasses of iced tea the day before, of course I'm going to pee a lot :P After that we took turns showering before heading out around 11 or 11:30 in search of food. We walked down the strip towards civilization and came across a Denny's with a long wait. We passed by it and then we passed up on a cafe too. We ended up sitting outside of the Fashion Mall for a few minutes trying to cool down. Dry heat my ass! The heat isn't bad because there's no humidity? Fuck you. It was fucking hot out. Okay, my heat rant probably wasn't helped by my wearing of a long sleeved shirt that didn't breath at all.

While we were resting, Eric used his blackberry to see what restaurants Treasure Island (TI) had. He found a relatively cheap buffet for $15 so we headed over there. To find a long line. But at least it was air-conditioned so we decided to wait. Then we got to the front and saw it was a special buffet for the holiday. So we paid $20 for a regular buffet, though our other choice was more $ for a champagne brunch which we both (obviously) decided against. The food at the buffet was good. They had scrambled eggs that weren't scrambled hard. I like mine a little runny which was exactly how they had them. Ohhh, and the bacon was yummy! I also had mashed potatoes and some of Eric's turkey that he didn't like. Hmm, I had fruit also and a piece of sausage pizza which wasn't that good. Eric tried a bit of everything which surprised me for some reason. He was totally digging the fruit pizza which scared me and I refused to try it when he offered me a bite. During our meal there was a young child behind us who kept screaming. Every time s/he/it screeched, I put my fork down and closed my eyes. He was surprised that I disliked kids so much. The thing is, I don't dislike kids in general. I dislike screechy, screamy ones.

After lunch, we took a taxi back to his hotel to lay down for a nap. We laid down around 2 and I set my alarm for 4:30 and we both conched out. I was feeling a lot better after my nap and was really looking forward to seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian later that evening. I headed back to Paris a little before 5 to meet up with Diane. Eric and I split up and he went off to.. whatever he did. Gamble, drink, whatever. Diane and I took a taxi to the Venetian and got a little mixed up once we got there trying to find the food court. We ate quickly and headed over to the theater.

We were really lucky to get cheap tickets to sit in the golden circle portion of the audience. We were 8 rows from the stage and almost smack dab in the middle of the row! I haven't seen Phantom on Broadway (which is a crying shame considering how close I live to NYC!) so I couldn't really compare the two. But the music was awesome and the singing was awesome and Raul didn't seem like a pussy the way Patrick Wilson did! The beginning with the chandelier coming back to "life" was breathtaking and amazing and I'm so glad I got to see it. The show only ran 95 minutes but I was ready for it to be over. Once the Phantom kidnaps Christine at the end of Don Juan Triumphant, the music & story seems to go so slowly.

After the show, Diane and I headed back to Paris and I let Eric know that I was done. He met me at Paris and we decided to go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower. We had tried the night before but it was closed due to how freaking windy it was. We waited in line for 20-30 minutes before getting to go up. The view was impressive and just so beautiful. It seems like the lights just go on forever. I'm so glad we went out at night instead of during the day. We also got to watch the Fountain Show at the Bellagio from up there. I was amazed that we could hear the music that was played. I guess we stayed up there for nearly a half hour between returning down. After that we headed back to the room and I grabbed my stuff because I was staying with him again.

Again we stayed up late, I think 3 this time, before finally hitting the hay.

Part 3 later. Jode is here now. Must give him my attention now!
